Private Blood Testing Service

Private Blood Test

Blood tests play a crucial role in regular medical check-ups and diagnostic processes. They enable healthcare providers to assess an individual’s overall physical health by measuring various substances like electrolytes, proteins, hormones, lipids, and enzymes present in the blood.

These tests are valuable for identifying infections, anemia, genetic disorders, immune system irregularities, and numerous other medical conditions. Blood tests are safe, relatively swift procedures that serve as an effective means to evaluate a person’s well-being.

What to expect at the appointment

The appointment is expected to last approximately 30 minutes.

During this time, we will ask you some questions, explain the process, and ensure your comfort and understanding before seeking your consent to proceed.

Our trained healthcare professional will extract a blood sample from a blood vessel in your arm, typically from the inside of your elbow or wrist, where the veins are close to the surface.

To facilitate the sample collection, our healthcare professional will place a snug band (tourniquet) around your upper arm, briefly slowing blood flow and causing the vein to swell, making it easier to draw the sample.

A needle, connected to either a syringe or a specialized container, will then be inserted into the vein. You may experience slight pricking or scratching as the needle enters, but it should not be painful. If you have concerns about needles or blood, please inform the person taking the sample so they can ensure your comfort.

Once the sample has been obtained, the tourniquet will be released, and the needle will be carefully removed. Pressure will be applied to the site using a cotton wool pad for a few minutes, and, if necessary, a plaster may be applied to the small wound to maintain cleanliness.

When will I receive my results?

Following your appointment, we will promptly dispatch your blood sample to our affiliated laboratory on the same day. The laboratory will conduct an analysis of the sample, and you can expect to receive the results via email within 5 to 7 business days from your appointment date.

Before your appointment

Before your blood test, it’s crucial to:

  • Ensure you get sufficient rest.
  • Drink at least 500ml of water on the day of your appointment.
  • Refrain from engaging in strenuous exercise and consuming alcohol for 24 hours before the test.
  • Be prepared to potentially fast for 8-12 hours before the test to ensure accurate results.

Furthermore, it’s recommended to wear comfortable attire on the day of your test, as certain aspects of the blood test may require you to remain still for some time. Additionally, bringing along a book or music can be beneficial to help you relax and stay comfortable during the test.

These tests require the collection of samples, typically using nasal or throat swabs, to ascertain whether an individual is presently infected. This process contributes to controlling the spread of the infection and offering guidance for suitable healthcare interventions.

Certain blood tests may be more accurate in identifying specific health conditions. However, a routine full blood count is the most comprehensive test that checks for levels of ten components of every major cell in your blood: white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.
