A Private Driver Medical can be completed by our Doctor. Local Authorities (and not the DVLA) decide who can carry them out. Most Local Authorities allow any Doctor to complete the Medical whereas some state only the driver’s own General Practitioner may do so.
Please obtain the required medical form and confirm with your Local Authority that any GP or Doctor can complete your medical before booking.
TAXI DRIVER MEDICALS
Taxi driver medicals can be completed by our General Practitioner. However Local Authorities (and not the DVLA) decide who can carry them out. Most Local Authorities allow any GP to perform Taxi Medicals where as some state only the driver’s own General Practitioner may do so.
Please obtain the required medical form and confirm with your Local Authority that any GP can complete your medical before booking to avoid disappointment.

Our examination will vary between each Local Authority as they decide what questions and tests are involved in the medical. But all medicals include an eye test, and a blood pressure test. Every medical must follow the same guidelines that a driver must reach Group 2 Medical Standards. You can find your medical form online and see what’s involved by visiting your Local Authority’s website and searching for ‘Taxi Licensing’.
MEDICAL RECORDS REQUIRED
Some Local Authorities require a Doctor to have access to medical records when completing the medical, This may need to be requested from your GP surgery – please bring these to the clinic.
WHAT TO BRING
✅ ID – Driving Licence / Passport
✅ Proof of address
✅ Prescription glasses and prescription (if used to drive)
✅ Medical Records from GP
✅ List of medications if appropriate
1. Taxi Council Medical Form (Available from your Council’s Website or see below)
2. Photo ID (Driving licence, passport)
3. Driving glasses/contact lenses & Prescription (If Appplicable)

Most GP Surgeries are able to provide your Medical Summary Care Records on the same day and Full Medical Records within 28 days. This service is for Free, GP Surgeries (under GDPR / SAR) are not allowed to charge for this request.
Please Contact your surgery to obtain the relevant records for your medical. Some Surgeries require written authority for such requests. Please see link below for sample letters that you can download and use for this request.
The examination will only take around 15 minutes. It includes an eye test, Blood pressure check, physical examination and BMI Check. You will be asked questions about the following topics: You may need to provide a Urine Sample for some Councils (Leeds, South Ribble, Pendle Council)
The doctor will complete the form based on your answers, medical history, medications and the results of the examination findings.

We are approved to carry out Medicals for most Councils. If your council is not listed please get in touch to discuss (+44 7414 599992), Please obtain the required medical form and confirm with your Local Authority that any GP or Doctor can complete your medical before booking.
Send the filled in Taxi Medical Form (vision and medical assessment) with your application form to the Licensing Department for your chosen Council.
If you do not send all the forms together, the processing of your application will be delayed.
For anyone who has been banned from driving and wishes to re-apply for their driving license, You may need a HRO Medical (High Risk Offender) medical such as a drink driver medical or drug driver medical. Please request the DVLA to appoint Just BestSkin Care Clinic Leads (if this is within your locality). We offer appointments every Tuesday. We are operating as normal for HRO Medicals in line with DVLA GUIDANCE.
